LB#15 PROJECT-based LEARNING and MULTIMEDIA

This is a teaching method that improves the creativity of the students which will help them excel in class. And it will serve as a motivation as well for they will acquire new knowledge and skills in designing, planning and producing multi-media products..And as the students engage in this method, it will be easier for them to understand the lesson by way of being creative and not just by merely using the materials..

LB # 14: Maximizing the Use of the Overhead Projector and the Chalkboard

Teaching is useless without the use of Overhead Projector and the Chalkboard. The students will automatically respond when the mentioned materials are being used in the classroom. For instance, when a teacher writes something on the board, the students will respond by copying the writings on the board that the teacher has written.. It is indeed very useful to use these two materials and to maximize their uses..
When I myself become a teacher in the near future, I would surely use these instructional materials in my class...

LB #13 TEACHING WITH VISUAL SYMBOLS

In this particular chapter, I have realized that teaching is not just merely standing in front of the class and say something important to the students, but, it is also a must to show the students the power of visual symbols which can be presented in the class to make the lesson more comprehensible...
We cannot deny that, using these visual symbols or visual aids in the class will be very helpful in presenting the lesson..

LB #11 Making The Most of Community Resources and Field Trips

Not everything can be learned by just merely reading a book or by the discussion of the teacher. Because of this, it is necessary to go out from school and have field trips. But oftentimes, teachers fail to meet the purposes of the field trips because of lack of preparation and unorganized planning.
As a future teacher, I must at all times plan well my activities to have a positive outcome. If i will conduct a field trip in the future, I should plan it ahead and prepare everything that is needed in having such activity. I must also ensure that the field trip will be related or has relevance on my lessons. And I should make sure that there will be an expert guide who'll be the one to explain things when we arrived at the place.. And I should orient the students beforehand of the things that should be observed the field trip, this includes their behavior in having this kind of activity.
There are also disadvantages that cannot be avoided in having field trips, the first is that it is costly, second is that it involves logistics, next is that it is extravagant with time and the last thing is that it contains elements of uncertainty.
For me, the best thing to do is to think first before deciding to have a field trip; if it is really necessary to have one...

LB #12 The Power of Films, Video and TV in the Classroom

Watching television or film is already a part of our lives nowadays. It seems that we cannot live without them. Some might say, especially the old ones, that it is disadvantageous to have this kind of technology in our time today, but, little do they know that it can also be used in a positive way that will produce positive outcomes. For instance, when viewing videos to the students to clarify the things that they don't understand in class. It can also be used as a motivational tool for the students to participate more in class. It is very useful in supplementing the students' learning and gives them better ideas by way of seeing educational videos in the classroom. One more benefit of having this in the class is that the students tend not to talk with there classmates because they will be entertained by the videos being presented.
As a future educator, I am in favor of having these technologies in the classroom..

LB# 10 : Dempnstration in Teaching

The word "Demonstration" is commonly used in the field of teaching. A Teacher who's not that good in demonstration will not be very effective in presenting his/her lessons. It is of paramount importance for a teacher to be a good demonstrator, for it will be very useful in handling a class. For instance, if a teacher is going to teach his/her students how to use the computer, if she/her couldn't demonstrate the steps on using the computer well, it would be very hard on the part of the students to absorb the things that their teacher is saying.
According to Edgar Dale, there are three (3) guiding principles in using demonstration as a teaching-learning experience and they are as follows:
  1. Establish rapport - Making the learners comfortable by keeping the demonstration and yourself interesting to sustain their attention.
  2. Avoid COIK fallacy (Clear Only If Known) - It is always important for a teacher to assume that his/her students know nothing about the lesson for him to be very thorough, clear, and detailed in his demonstration.
  3. Watch for Key points - it is the part of the discussion where the students will have some difficulties and which will be cleared and explained by the teacher.
